Anthony “Shake” Shakir benefit event and fundraiser launched by Detroit’s Interdimensional Transmissions

Detroit label and promoter Interdimensional Transmissions is putting on a fundraising event in support of esteemed techno DJ and producer Anthony “Shake” Shakir.

Set to take place at Tangent in Detroit on Saturday, 1st March, the line-up will bring together a number of key figures from Detroit’s techno scene, including DJ Stingray 313, Claude Young, Daniel Bell, Jay Denham, DJ Etta, Eddie Fowlkes and Keith Tucker.

Shakir has been in long-term care for some time after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), and the condition has stopped him from being able to DJ and make new music.

Announcing the party, Interdimensional Transmissions said: “The music of Anthony ‘Shake’ Shakir has had such a lasting impact precisely because he saw beyond boundaries and expressed a true iconoclastic spirit that is simultaneously purely Detroit and universal. A single EP from Shake could have four songs in four totally different genres, with each one not only excellent, but inspired and innovative.”

Find out more about the party here, and support a GoFundMe campaign, which has been set up for those who cannot attend the event, here.
