Alok DJs for 2.5 million people at record-breaking Rio New Year’s Eve show

Alok performed to an estimated 2.5 million people at a record-breaking New Year’s Eve celebration in Rio de Janeiro.

The Copacabana Réveillon event, held last week, was officially certified by Guinness World Records as the largest New Year’s Eve celebration on the planet.

The massive midnight party spanned 13 stages with 1,200 drones and 19 barges used for a 12-minute-long fireworks display, Agência Brasil reports.

The Brazilian star performed an hour-long DJ set for the historic crowd. Other performers included legendary Brazilian singer‑songwriter Gilberto Gil and Rio-born pop and R&B singer Iza.

“Welcome, 2026! This is how we do it!” Alok shared on Instagram, alongside a series of jaw-dropping clips from his DJ set.

Last year, Alok was voted into the No. 3 spot in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll. The accolade followed a number of key collaborations across 2025, including ‘Truth, Peace, Love, Acid’ with ARTBAT, ‘Euphoria’ with Armin van Buuren, Norma Jean Martine and LAWRENT and ‘Last Night I Dreamt I Fell In Love’ alongside Kylie Minogue, plus a remix of John Summit and CLOVES’ ‘Focus’.

In 2024, he collaborated with Indigenous musicians in Brazil on the album ‘The Future is Ancestral’, with 100% of royalties and proceeds going to the communities involved.
