Akai Professional Announces Free MPC 3.8 Update
Akai Professional has announced the MPC 3.8, a free firmware update that allows for smoother integration between MPC Sample and other MPC hardware. Previously, Akai’s portable sampler, the MPC Sample — released earlier this year and described by the company as “the most accessible standalone sampler yet” — worked alongside the MPC collection as a separate tool.
The update, available for Akai Professional products including MPC X, Live, One, Key series, Force and desktop, now allows you to easily export MPC tracks back to MPC Sample. Additionally, five MPC Sample effects — including a tape and vinyl emulator and a colour compressor — will now be available across the whole MPC lineup. Check out a walkthrough video for the update below.
Earlier this year, Akai Professional rolled out its “most powerful MPC ever”, the MPC XL, featuring a Gen 2 8-core processor with 4x the processing power of previous Akai MPCs and stacked with a sampler, pro stem separation and more. Back in 2024, the US-based company added stem separation to its MPC range of samplers.
