AIM Awards 2025: Ezra Collective, Gilles Peterson, Cosey Fanni Tutti among winners

The Association of Independent Music (AIM) Awards 2025 took place on Tuesday night (23rd September).

At the ceremony, which took place at the Roundhouse in London, broadcaster Gilles Peterson was given the Outstanding Contribution to Music award for his career that spans four decades.

Elsewhere, Ezra Collective picked up the Best Independent Track gong for ‘God Gave Me Feet For Dancing’, which features Yazmin Lacey. XL Recordings’ artist Fontaines D.C. were awarded Best Independent Album (in association with Spotify) for ‘Romance’.

Also during the night, Cosey Fanni Tutti was given the AIM Innovator Award for her trailblazing contributions to avant-garde music.

Earlier this year, Ezra Collective launched a new initiative to help young Black women gain experience in the music industry, Future Foundation. The London five-piece became the first jazz act to win the Mercury Music Prize in 2023 for their previous album, ‘Where I’m Meant To Be’.

Last year, Peterson’s Worldwide FM forged a partnership with Monkey Shoulder Whiskey to set up a new music initiative designed to empower and celebrate the grassroots communities of music scenes around the UK.
