Ableton announces Live 12.4

Ableton is updating its flagship Live software.

Ableton Live 12.4 — currently in public beta — builds on the previous iteration of Ableton Live 12.3, which brought in a new stem separation tool, by introducing Link Audio. This means users can stream audio between Link Audio-enabled devices over a local network in real time — particularly handy if you’re looking to work with several Ableton devices.

The update also includes new revamped versions of three audio effects: Erosion (which will now be available on Move and Note), Chorus-Ensemble and Delay. Additionally, the aforementioned stem separation software has seen improvements, with users now able to merge separated stems onto a single track rather than generating individual tracks each time.

Another key difference is the software’s new Learn view, which replaces the old Help view to offer “structured tutorials” that comprise a mix of short videos and text. Check out the full list of updates here.

The public beta of Ableton Live 12.4 is a free update available for Live 12 owners who are in the Ableton Beta Program.

Last year, Ableton announced a new rent-to-own plan for its Live 12 Suite software.
