A rare Daft Punk skateboard is on sale for $15,000

A limited edition Daft Punk skateboard is on the market with a $15,000 price tag.

The highly coveted board was originally revealed in 2017 by Daft Punk’s creative director Cédric Hervet, who directed several of their videos and co-produced their 2003 film Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the  5ecret 5tar 5ystem. He is also a part of the duo’s Daft Arts production company.

Each deck was handmade in Normandy using high-quality wood, capped off with metallic details that nod to the duo’s iconic helmets.

Those 25 boards were sold at a pop-up exhibition at Maxfield in Los Angeles and now, eight years later, the 11th skateboard in the run has appeared on eBay.

The skateboard is listed with a photo of the number etched inside its hand-built wooden box. The box also features the Daft Punk logo, as well as both Hervet’s and Maxfield’s logos.

In 2023, the 23rd skateboard was sold for $3,119 as part of the Marvels of Modern Music auction, which also included rare items from Prince, the Rolling Stones, and Pink Floyd.

According to that listing, the Daft Punk boards measure 27.5″ long and 6″ wide, and come complete with “the Daft Punk and Maxfield logos laser-etched on the bottom”.

Daft Punk announced their split four years ago, but they have remained a ubiquitous presence in dance music culture ever since. Last year, we wondered how long this could last, and in what form.

Since then, that question has been answered somewhat by the release of new merch and brand collaborations, such as the duo’s collaboration with streetwear brand PLEASURES and news of the increasing likelihood of a LEGO partnership.
