EDM Sauce Exclusive Interview: DJ dyln
Los Angeles-based producer and DJ dyln has officially returned to the spotlight with his latest single, “falling*.” Marking a significant comeback following a multi-year hiatus after his 2021 debut album BoomTown, the artist is ready to make his mark on the electronic music landscape once again. The new track, DJ dyln, captures a sophisticated blend of nostalgic Y2K trance elements, melancholic vocals, and lush, atmospheric chords that define his evolving sound.
The creative vision behind “falling*” extends beyond the audio, introducing a unique narrative world. Central to this aesthetic is the character Ahri, a 3D mage created by artist b0throps. According to dyln, Ahri is a friend who has become lost in another world, accompanied by cats that serve as her protectors. This character-driven approach has already garnered significant attention on social media, adding a layer of mystery and visual storytelling to his musical output.
Reflecting on the inspiration for the track, dyln notes, “I wanted to bring people into my world. I listen to old trance records pretty much every day, and I just wanted to create a feeling for anyone to get lost in.”
Beyond the studio, dyln has been cultivating a massive following across Asia since 2022. His touring schedule has seen him perform at major venues such as Ultra Mix in Guangzhou, Orangutan Bunker in Chengdu, and OGBK in Chongqing. His commitment to the region is further evidenced by his role as a co-founder of the Chengdu-based nightclub Teethgold, which has become a hub for hip-hop and EDM talent. Looking ahead, dyln remains focused on his global impact, stating, “I just want to make my own impact on dance music, I love it in Asia, so I’ll be touring here for a while.”
