Swiss clubs reopening with reduced capacity and no social distancing

News

A number of Swiss clubs have reopened with reduced capacity and no social distancing in place amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Switzerland, a number of nightclubs including Weetamix (pictured), Audio Club and Supermarket have reopened their doors, with a 6PM to 12PM curfew, following the relaxation of the country’s lockdown laws.

Among the parties which took place across the last weekend, DJ Luciano played two gigs in Geneva and Lausanne, where capacity was between 100 and 300 but no social distancing guidelines were in place in the venue.

Larger scale events in Switzerland are still banned until August 2020, but government are set to review an increase in current crowd capacity to 1,000 at a review this Wednesday (24th).

Recently, reports of a UK Government leak suggested clubs could reopen under new guidance, alongside hotels, pubs, and restaurants. The official advice included socially-distanced queues, temperature checks similiar to those seen in airports, and hand sanitizing stations. The UK has reported over 40,000 deaths from COVID-19, with Switzerland’s nationwide death toll reported to be below 2,000.

As more venues and public spaces across the globe relax shutting restrictions amid the COVID-19 pandemic, an Orlando nightclub last week confirmed that three staff tested positive for the virus following an event.
