Burning Man announces virtual event for 2021

News

Burning Man has confirmed plans for a virtual edition of the festival this summer.

Taking place from August 22nd until September 7th, the virtual event will follow on from last year’s Burning Man Multiverse virtual edition, which took place instead of the usual event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s usual edition of the festival has also been cancelled, with the virtual event taking its place instead.

Those who attend the virtual event will be able to explore six Virtual Burn Worlds that will allow people to see 3D art, participate in community workshops and meet attendees from all over the world. People will be able to experience the festival via a standard desktop or mobile device, or with a VR headset.

Tickets are on sale here. You can check out a trailer for the Virtual Burn 2021 below.

Burning Man’s real-life 2021 edition was officially called off last month, with organisers confirming that they hoped to be back in full force next year. Organisers had considered making vaccinations mandatory for all those that wished to attend this year’s event before deciding to pull the plug altogether.
